Families around the world love Lawryโs Seasoning Salt, the famous spice blend with infinite uses. Hereโs how you can make your own seasoned salt blend that will taste just like you remember it, at half the price.

Lawryโs Seasoned Salt ingredients:
This recipe is vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free.
- Salt (use less if you want to).
- Sugar (you can reduce or omit this).
- Paprika.
- Turmeric.
- Onion powder.
- Garlic powder.
- Cornstarch. This keeps the spices from clumping.
- *Celery salt (Optional, but delicious, and you can make an amazing homemade celery salt here.)
Buying spices in bulk:
It seems like those expensive little spice jars can get pricy at the store. Consequently, itโs not always the best way to buy dried herbs and spices, either, because their high cost usually deters shoppers and they end up sitting on the shelf longer than ideal.
But buying spices from a specialty store or a market with a well-stocked bulk department will save you money every time. Not only are the ingredients likely to be fresher, you get to buy exactly what you need. Less waste, more money in your pocket.
Alternatively, you can find good deals on spices online. Spices inc, Penzeyโs, or the Spice House have good prices and fresh stock.
How to make Lawryโs Seasoned Salt:
This is so simple. All you have to do is combine the measured ingredients together. Store the seasoned salt in an airtight container or a spice jar with a lid.
Lawryโs Seasoned Salt uses:
This all-purpose seasoning salt recipe can be made to use on:
- Corn on the cob. Sprinkle it over freshly cooked, buttered corn.
- Prime rib. Roasted meats sparkle when rubbed with seasoned salt. Thatโs why thereโs a famous restaurant dedicated to Lawryโs prime rib.
- Carne Asada. Made for special occasions in Mexico, they love to use seasoned salt.
- Chicken. Homemade rotisserie chicken, or grilled chickenโฆitโs all better with this stuff.
- Potatoes. Any kind of potatoes: French fries, smashed red potatoes, mashed potatoes, you name it.
- Chex Mix. Easily the most addictive snack on the planet.
- Fish. Fried fish, baked trout, or grilled salmon
- Salads and casseroles. Coleslaw, pasta salad, scalloped potatoes all taste a little better.

I have celery seed NOT salt
What amount of the celery seed would you recommend?
Hi Toni, I havenโt tried celery seed substitute, but I would recommend grinding it with a mortar and pestle or in a spice grinder, and adding to your preferred taste. Take care! โ Meggan
Great recipe and yes celery salt/seed is a must. You forgot the most important ingredient. PEPPER 1-2 teaspoons.
Excellent recipe! I doubled everything and didnโt have celery salt so I didnโt do that option but we thoroughly enjoyed our meat and all I did was sprinkle both sides with this seasoned salt and a little fresh ground pepper. So simple and delicious!
Hi Karen, Iโm so glad you all loved it! โ Meggan
Super quick and easy to make โฅ๏ธ
Thanks Melissa! -Meggan
Sounds yummyโฆ I will have to sub swerve for sugar. Iโm diabetic. It gives a great alternative and I can control salt intake. Thanks
The original Lawryโs garlic salt is white and the paprika makes it red and different
Great seasoning blend. Thanks a million!
I use low sodium salt, itโs wonderful
Meggan,
Thank you for posting this copycat seasoning recipe. I plan to try it, and I do suggest that you keep posting copycat seasonings like this. As a large family now, it is difficult to pay all of the prices that suppliers charge. Many of the seasonings have even went up where I live โฆ let alone all of the costs for feeding a family. Like Iโve said before, many people have stopped going to restaurants, because the prices are so high. Thatโs why I love Culinary Hill and all of your culinary delights on your website. I so believe in your Mission, because my family is one that is really benefitting from all that you do. Thank you, and please, keep making more copycats of things โ maybe even have a page where people can suggest restaurant recipes to try and duplicate.
